Children's Ministry

"These commandments that I give to you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, whe you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Tru Philosophy:

Tru is designed to inspire, equip, and support parents and church leaders in their ministry to children.
The Tru team strongly believes that spiritual development can and should begin from the earliest age with parents as the primary nurturers of their children's faith. Tru resources support both the church and home with a focus on knowing God personally, igniting a passion for Christ, learning to listen to His Spirit, keeping Biblical content true to context, and cultivating a concern for people's needs in our communities and the world.

Tru Wonder (Preschool) and Tru Story (K-5th grade) begin in the home, equipping parents to be primary in spiritually nurturing their children through weekly HomeFront lessons.

Garden Of Eden Nursery:

Coordinator:
Kristen Thessing

The Garden of Eden nursery welcomes children from birth through two years old during the first and second services on Sunday morning. There is also a Room for Nursing Mothers available across the hall from the Nursery so nursing moms can participate in the worship service.

We ask that all parents complete an information form for their child and leave it with the nursery volunteer. This only needs to be completed one time, but you will need to sign your child in for each service. Please follow the procedures listed on the sign-in table. The nursery is located to the right of the narthex before entering the sanctuary, Room 125.

Volunteers:

Our teachers and class assistants are made up of an all volunteer staff. Our teachers are required to be members of Woodland Park Christian Church for at least six months. Anyone who works with our children must complete a Child Protection class; have 2 or more personal references and a background check on file in the church office before they are able to serve.

Child Protection:

Woodland Park Christian Church takes our children's protection very seriously. This is important not just for the protection of our children but also for the protection of our volunteers and the church. The Child Protection class consists of an application form, viewing a video, a discussion about the video's contents and church policies, personal references are obtained, and a background check is done. The class is offered on the first Sunday of every other month with additional classes offered more frequently as needed. Anyone wishing to serve with the babies/children/youth in our church MUST first complete this class.
